Participant role

Hazmat and battery specialists

Handles and treats the regulated streams that arise from electronics under hazardous or universal waste rules: lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries, CRT glass and leaded funnel glass, mercury-containing lamps and switches, capacitors and PCB-containing components. The defining feature is regulated custody and permitted treatment, not the electronics themselves.

How this role is defined
Qualifying activities
accepting regulated electronics-derived streams under a permit or registration; stabilisation, discharge, neutralisation, thermal or mechanical treatment of those streams; permitted storage and transfer of universal waste; compliant packaging and manifesting as a treatment or storage facility.
Does not qualify alone
generating these streams and shipping them onward; transporting them under a hauler licence only.
Boundary vs C05
a general recycler that segregates batteries and ships them to a permitted facility is C05, not C06.
B2B scope
business-to-business only. Activity sold to individual consumers or households never supports this role; a company serving both is admitted on its business-facing evidence alone, with the consumer channel recorded as an attribute of the company, never as grounds for a role.
